At the end of 2022, Michelle Obama embarked on a tour for her second book, The Light We Carry, which featured a series of conversations with her friends and colleagues, from Gayle King to David Letterman. Oprah capped off the tour as Obama’s discussion partner at the final event in Los Angeles.

Now Obama is bringing this tour stop to even more people with a new Netflix special. The Light We Carry: Michelle Obama & Oprah Winfrey is coming to screens on April 25 and will give viewers a front-row seat to the enlightening conversation the two of them had during the book tour.

The 80-minute special, which is partially produced by the Obamas’ company, Higher Ground Productions, will touch on a variety of topics close to both Oprah’s and Obama’s heart. Their conversation is one you won’t want to miss—from Obama’s stories about her childhood and White House moments to words of wisdom on menopause, aging, and even romance, the duo share many poignant observations.

In the trailer, Obama gears up to tell the story of when Oprah met her “kitchen table friends”—a.k.a. her nearest and dearest—which, apparently, didn’t even make it into The Light We Carry. “See, I wasn’t going to tell that story. I didn’t know I could tell that story,” Oprah responds. Catch us counting down the days until we can all hear about this never-before-told moment.

While you’re waiting, you can listen to other conversations Obama had during her book tour on Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast. The final episode—which includes her discussion with Oprah—launches on April 25, but you can hear Obama talk with Tyler Perry, Conan O’Brien, and more in the episodes that have been released so far (and listen to an exclusive clip with Hoda Kotb here).
