• 73 percent of Americans prefer road trips to flying.
  • In fact, a survey of 2,000 people found that between planes, trains, and automobiles, Americans prefer flying the least.

Do you prefer packing up for the airport and flying to your destination, or sitting in a car with your loved ones talking and listening to some great music?

If the answer is the latter, you aren't alone. A new study of 2,000 Americans conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Ford found that 73 percent of participants preferred road tripping over flying, according to Fox News.

According to the study, the participants' biggest issues with traveling by plane are delays, going through security, being constricted to a weight limit, and the cramped seats.

With road tripping, on the other hand, the study found that 69 percent enjoyed the scenic views, 69 percent loved the freedom to stop anywhere, and 57 percent liked that they could pack whatever they wanted without having to worry about weight.

And 6 out of 10 Americans polled said they're planning on taking more road trips in the next five years, with over half confirming they already have plans to hop in the car and go this summer.

“Millennials came of age in a time when air travel was democratizing. They were known as the globe-trotting generation, but now we’re seeing a shift," said Sheryl Connelly, chief futurist at the Ford Motor Company. "Many of them are choosing to stay closer to home, taking family road trips instead and reliving their childhood for their kids, something we call the #RoadTripRewind."
