preview for Oprah on Turning Up the Volume in Your Life

Hello, Oprah Insiders.

Well, as you can see, I’m back home. Recognize the bookshelf? After traveling for the past three and a half weeks, starting out in Maui, flying to Marrakech, to South Africa, then to Italy, then to Zurich, then to New York, and an out-of-this-world Beyoncé concert. I’m telling you, if you get a chance to see Beyoncé this summer, you should do it. It is a transcendent experience to watch somebody in their full power.

You know, I often say that all of us are living or striving to have the fullest expression of ourselves as a human being. Miss Beyoncé is fully expressed to the maximum degree, with the volume fully turned up in her life, and it made me think about my own life differently, which is what real art does. Whether you see a beautiful painting or go to a concert that moves you or hear a piece of music, it is inspiring something in you to be better, to grow to the next level, to expand. I felt that way about the Beyoncé concert, watching her in her full glory.

And so, I’m asking you this question this week: What can you do—I’m thinking about this for myself—to turn up the volume in your own life, particularly in the next 30 days? We have 30 days now until Labor Day, which is not the official end of summer, but psychologically, we all know it’s getting back to work, going back to school, the fall season is coming. So, we have 30 days left of summer, and so far, it’s been a great summer for me. I’m thinking, rather than just letting it peter out, what do I wanna do to turn up the volume in all of my experiences?

Like a lot of you, I still have family and friends who are coming to visit, but what can we do to make it a resounding experience, not for just ourselves but for the people that we’re going to be encountering? Turning up the volume in your life in the next 30 days, what would that look like? Let me know in your comments.

And I loved all your comments about stepping forward when other people step back. I love what SMA4875 said about helping the blind person get to their destination. And Nick Rondinelli? Loved your comments. Mary of Perth, of course, in the heat of it right now. Plevie7. Loved all of your comments. I read all the comments. So let me know your comments about turning up the volume in the next 30 days. Whatcha gonna do?

Go well this week.
