Oprah and Michelle Obama have come together for countless interviews, but we’re taking you behind the scenes of the powerhouse duo’s latest milestone moment together—which happens to be the subject of a new Netflix special. The Light We Carry: Michelle Obama & Oprah Winfrey features an inspiring conversation between the two friends that took place on the final stop of Obama’s tour for her second book, The Light We Carry. (Oprah was the finale of a tour stacked with other guests, like David Letterman, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Gayle King).

Their discussion was filmed last December at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. Oprah chose a sunny yellow outfit for the occasion, which complemented the gold buttons on Obama’s white suit. When the pair connected backstage, it was pure magic. (Watching them hug is the cure for all bad days, probably.)

“You look so good!” Obama exclaimed after seeing Oprah, to which she responded, “So do you.” It’s beautiful to watch Oprah and Obama support each other in the moments before they go onstage.

When the pair greets the crowd—of thousands of cheering fans—they’re as magnetic as ever. “I’m here for the same reason you are—to get some of that light she’s carrying,” Oprah calls out while announcing Obama’s entrance. The energy stayed high through their conversation. “That was fun,” Oprah says when leaving the stage. “We had fun.”

Experience these moments in our behind-the-scenes video below, and watch The Light We Carry: Michelle Obama & Oprah Winfrey on Netflix now to witness the conversation they had onstage.
